A band of craft beer makers teamed up Saturday to benefit a local charity that seeks to help young artists with disabilities achieve financial independence by selling their goods in stores and online.
Solidarity for Charity was formed by craft beer brewers who wish to educate consumers about the craft beer community. They also are committed to raising funds for local charities. Saturday’s event was their first annual event, held from 2-9 p.m. at Dank Haus in Lincoln Square.
All proceeds went to Artfully Gifted , a non-profit based in downtown Chicago. The organization helps support the entrepreneurial efforts of those disabilities who create original art, products, and services through their own business. Artfully Gifted assists by selling products at their brick-and-mortar retail store at 1950 W Roosevelt. The organization is currently developing an online retail store as well which they hope to have completed soon.
Saturday’s event featured a pop-up shop featuring the work of Artfully Gifted’s young adult artists as well as samplings of beer from more than a dozen breweries like Begyle and Half Acre , food from local favorites like Monti’s , Rockwell’s Neighborhood Grill , and Isla Pilipina , gourmet food by Fountainhead chef Cleetus Friedman, music by CHIRP Radio, and more.
